About Rizwan
Rizwan Ghaffar is the technical lead at Intel for 5G Wireless development. He has been in the cellular industry for more than a decade and has contributed in the development of 3G (HSDPA), 4G (LTE) and 5G (NR) systems. His research has focused on multi-antenna systems that is the key enabling technology for higher data rates wireless systems. In his current role, he has achieved the distinction of designing 5G systems that achieved the maximum data rate and made the first ever call on stand alone 5G systems. He is presently leading a team of system engineers and is working on the advanced features of 5G including uRLLC (ultra reliability low latency communication) and V2X (vehicular communication).

  • Introduction to NR-5G and Its Challenges

3:30 PM Sunday   Room: Town Square A
5G is future of wireless communications which is going to transform how wireless devices (mobile phones, cars, sensors, IoT) communicate with each other. In this presentation, we will focus on how 5G is transforming wireless field in general and cellular field in particular. We will start form 2G and discuss how cellular communication has evolved from 2G to 3G, 4G and now 5G. We will discuss how 5G is enabling technologies that are far from cellular domain and are moving to IoT (internet of things). We will also dwell on what challenges 5G is facing and how we can overcome those challenges.
